Karl-Heinz Oehler serves as Partner and Managing Director for Denison Consulting Europe based in Weinfelden, Switzerland. His responsibilities include leading Denison’s European business development and providing consulting services covering the entire product and service portfolio of Denison Consulting.
Karl-Heinz’s work has been recognized with the “HR & Business Success Award” and the overall winner’s accolade – the “Dave Ulrich Award of HCM Excellence” – at the 2011 European HCM Excellence Awards. In addition, Karl-Heinz was conferred the Talent Leadership Award at the WORLD HRD CONGRESS 2012. This is the organizer’s most prestigious accolade of their “Global HR Excellence Awards for 2011-2012” and the highest honour which an individual can receive for his or her contribution to HR. Furthermore, he won the “High Performance Award” from the Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp) based on his understanding of human capital strategies as well as financial measures, which Karl-Heinz has championed with the different companies he worked for.
Karl-Heinz has over 35 years of extensive global experience in three main areas: global Human Resources and Organizational Development (OD), senior line leadership positions, and provision of consulting services. He has deep expertise in Culture and Change having led global Organization Development and Effectiveness initiatives as well as global, large scale culture change management projects, including measuring their impact on business results.
Karl-Heinz is also a popular speaker and an accomplished author. He has written articles on HR measurement for various publications, including Training Industry Quarterly and Talent Engagement Review. In addition, he has written chapters for the “Executive Guide to Integrated Talent Management” and the “Integrated Talent Management Scorecards” books both published by ASTD.
Throughout his career, Karl-Heinz has led the development and implementation of cultural transformation projects and programs. Karl-Heinz has worked with the Chinese government to assist with the setup of operating offices in Beijing, and a software development site in Xi’an. He led large merger and acquisition projects with focus on Organizational Culture due diligence and Cultural post-merger integration.
Prior to joining Denison Consulting, Karl-Heinz was the Senior Vice President of Global Talent Management for the Hertz Corporation. Prior to Hertz, he led Human Resources and Organization Development for the international division of The Reynolds and Reynolds Company; and worked for SITA (Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques), an NGO, where he held the positions of Vice President, Commercial Operations Southern Europe, Vice President Global Sales Operations, and Vice President, Organization Development, based in Geneva.
Previously, Karl-Heinz created and managed the Geneva branch of Personnel Decisions International, a global OD consulting firm. Before joining PDI, Karl-Heinz worked 15 years in senior positions in human resources, organization development, and marketing & sales with Texas Instruments. He started his career in the airline industry with Sperry-Univac.
A German national, Karl-Heinz holds a Masters Degree in Social Psychology and a Masters Degree in Economics, each from the University of Düsseldorf. He served on the boards of the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) and Human Resource People & Strategy organization (HRPS), a SHRM affiliate. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. He is also a certified organizational auditor of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). Karl-Heinz has lived and worked in Korea, Singapore, the United States, the UK, Finland, Sweden, France, Switzerland and Germany.
